Robert Nolan began his life as an actor at the tail end of an Honours Degree in English and Drama from the University of Toronto. He has since had - and seeks out - challenging varieties of roles in drama and comedy on screen, stage, TV, radio and now on the web. He has achieved critical acclaim for the portrayal of Geoffrey Oswald Dodd, a seemingly ordinary high school teacher in 'Worm,' and for his role as a father whose world has fallen away with the death of his daughter in 'Madd: Shattered,' a film on drinking and driving to be shown to over a million teens in high-schools across Canada in 2010-11. He has worked in a variety of genres from music (the big lost kid in 'Bully' by hip-hop star D.O.), cutting-edge dramas ('Worm', 'Hyde') and unusual comedies ('Inside Steve's Mind: Hitler's Apology,' 'David Suzuki?') and on stage playing such controversial characters as Norman Bethune in 'Bethune.' He has been cast in another dramatic role as the lead in 'The Familiar', a sister film to 'Worm.' 'Lavender Fields' (2010) is the latest of a four-film collaboration with director Alfredo Salvatore Arcilesi and a sensitive exploration of longing, loss and renewal in worlds of silence and sound. Robert loves to work in cutting-edge dramas ('Blind Spot,' 'Hyde,' 'Worm') and unusual comedies ('David Suzuki?', 'Gladiator!', 'Inside Steve's Mind: Hitler's Apology'). He has acted on stage ('Rebel Without a Cause,' 'Bethune'), on Television ('Zero Hour,' 'Brain Attack,' 'Cold Blood,' 'Outlaw Bikers') and on radio. In 2009 he had principal roles in the crime-drama 'Lucky 7' (feature) as an Irish bar-owner in an Irish-Mafia war and as the strange guest in the psycho-thriller 'A Date With Fear' (feature). Robert seeks out challenging roles that spur his growth as an actor. He is the lead in the disturbing psychological portrait of a teacher in 'Worm,' the seeming suburban father in the surprisingly twisted shock-horror 'Eyes Beyond' (co-directed by Tommy Chang) and a powerful and elusive senator in the mysterious 'UFO Charlie' (feature). He is also doing television, appearing in episodes of 'Outlaw Bikers IV: Vancouver,' 'Cold Blood 2: Shortcut to Murder,' 'Breakout: Texas 7' and he stars as the big lost kid in the music video 'Bully' by hip-hop star D.O. on Much Music. Invited to compete as a 'star' in 'Dancing With The Local Stars' (Caesars' Palace), Robert found a new joy in the wonderful and highly disciplined world of competitive dance. Upcoming projects include principal roles in the sci-fi suspense-thriller 'Minus 8' (feature) and the action-packed 'Skeleton Lake' (feature). Of note is that he has played the role of Adolph Hitler in three films (so far!). He hopes to continue an ongoing artistic collaboration in deeply intelligent and challenging roles with director Alfredo Salvatore Arcilesi and Arcilesi Films. Nolan is on set on 'Red: Werewolf Hunter' an MOW on the SyFy TV Channel, based on the Red Riding Hood story) in an actor role playing a man being hunted by werewolves. The movie stars Felicia Day, Kavan Smith, Greg Bryk, David Reale and Stephen McHattie.
